My client has found that Service Engineers convert to Sales Engineering very well-- they travel to sites, they talk with Engineering Managers, they know the issues with maintaining and repairing packaging, processing and manufacturing machinery. The company can offer sales training and technical support to back up your existing industrial machinery knowledge, and make your transition "off the tools and into sales" a success. If you can come to them with a positive attitude, some experience in working on machinery in one of these manufacturing industries- food, beverage, brewery, dairy, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, water, chemical, then you'll already have worked in one of their areas, and your knowledge will be a flying start.
