- Description
In the last 5 years, my clients' Commissioning Service Engineering team have had to deal with more worldwide machinery installation projects than ever before. The company's systems have got more complex, and the sizes of the projects have grown too. All of that creates extra workload, and now there is a need for an extra Commissioning Engineer to join that team.
The systems are very automated, so the Commissioning Engineer will have to have some PLC control software ability- not just PLC fault finding and diagnostics, but confident to be able to work with PLC code, sometimes do some modifications and very basic PLC software programming,
Engineers in Central England, East Anglia, and those happy to fly out from Airports would be the best fit.
There will be some time in the factory- checking over machines, testing the PLC software, the drives, motors, conveyors, electrical, mechanical setup.
Then you'll travel to a UK site- or an overseas one- to commission the whole system. Usually you'll check the mechanical and electrical installation done by resident engineers, and then download the control software, check the machine for faults, get the systems working.
Travel IS a part of the job.
There might be chance to gain some extra skills working alongside the Design Engineers sharpening up your PLC programming skills too (on Allen Bradley, Siemens and other PLC's they use). There might also be chances to move into the Controls Design Department too over time.
